Pole dancing, Tahiti Dance classes, flying trapeze and getting a hug from a hugging saint are just a few fun, interesting and fulfilling things to do in New York this week!
I don't know if it's because I'm turning 48 and that I'm in Chapter Two of my life -- the next chapter. But there are still a lot of things, people and places to discover.
What about you? What's happening in your town?
Whatever it is, remember: KEEP SMILING!
A few months ago, my friends and I tried NY Pole dancing. We tried the Climb and Spin class, a beginner's pre-requisite to any other classes.
It really was a great exercise. It's not easy. It required concentration and remembering a dance routine. We learned a few dance techniques while building strength, control and muscle memory.
Last November, my friend and I ventured on an adventure that we both didn't think we could do: We conquered our fears and succeeded in spending the morning at New York Flying Trapeze. We did it indoors during the Fall, but I bet it is more exciting outdoors at South Street Seaport.
This summer, there are a few Ori Tahiti Dance classes in Central Park. Tonight alone, July 9th, from 6:30-8:30pm, classes will be held at Central Park, Columbus Circle.
I love to dance. I was a member of Ramon Obusan Dance Group (which by the way has a show , "Ugat...Ugnayan...Obusan", in Manila on September 21-22 at the CCP)
And I love Central Park. Sounds like a perfect combination, right?

And for three days, from July 9 -11, Amma will be at Javit's Center. Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma) is known as the hugging saint. Her embrace has a unique way of spreading comfort.
Here are her basic principles in life:
Love: Be like the honeybee who gathers only nectar wherever it goes. Seek the goodness that is found in everyone."
Serve: "Don't be discouraged by your incapacity to dispel darkness from the world. Light your candle and step forward."
Conserve: Where did we go wrong? The real mistake we commit lies in our inability to differentiate between requirements and luxuries."
I don't know if it's because I'm turning 48 and that I'm in Chapter Two of my life -- the next chapter. But there are still a lot of things, people and places to discover.
