Just Because I’m Me

It’s another Thursday Sweet Treat! This week’s theme is “The Landscape of the Soul”.



I’m not a professional artist, photographer or writer but I always admire people’s passion and talent for the arts. I love to be a witness in the story of their artwork and Thursday Sweet Treat provides me with plenty of inspiration. It’s like going to the museum (and my family loves going to museums. Maybe that’s why my husband proposed to me at the Tiffany Garden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art)


I toyed around with different ideas and different visions in my head. But because of my limitations, I can’t seem to quite capture what I needed to convey. My mind thinks in images and most of the times it’s tough to accurately translate the images into words.


My life’s been a crazy ride, and yet I’m at peace. As I was sitting in my family room with my family, a view just reminded me of what makes me “me”.
With that in mind, I wanted to put together photos from my past, my present any my future.






My first attempt includes some old photographs from Italy, Philippines and a photo from last week’s trip to Grounds for Sculpture.



I’m not quite sure if this totally captured what I wanted to convey so….




I took a picture of my backyard and my door in the family room , multiplied it by three and then combined it with the other photos of the past and the present. I played around with it to make the colors vibrant – just like how I’m starting to live my life and hopes the future brings.


And this is my final piece.


Just Because I’m Me

I am who I am for YOU gave me LIFE,
I am who I am for the joys that make my heart sing.
I am who I am for the struggles I had to bear,
I am who I am for the pains I endured,
I am who I am for the sorrows I complained about,
I am who I am JUST BECAUSE I’M ME.

I am who I am for my PAST that molded me,
I am who I am for every wrong path I took,
I am who I am for the memories that haunted me,
I am who I am for the stars I reached,
I am who I am for the tears I shed,
I am who I am JUST BECAUSE I’M ME.

I am who I am for my PRESENT that keeps me at peace,
I am who I am for the pleasures of motherhood,
I am who I am for the daily hugs and kisses,
I am who I am for the pins and needles of anxieties,
I am who I am for the love of my husband
I am who I am JUST BECAUSE I’M ME.


I am who I am for the FUTURE that’s approaching,
I am who I am for the dreams I hope to fulfill,
I am who I am for the opportunities I yet have to seize,
I am who I am for the wonders full of astonishment,
I am who I am for the love that keeps multiplying,
I am who I am JUST BECAUSE I’M ME.
My soul, my being, my entire goal
All connected
So powerful,
So intense,
So passionate.
My family, my own self, my very purpose
Is a treasure that’s in my Past, my Present and my Future.

Every week, every entry seems like an addition to my “book” (No More Tears…),
And I’m blessed that TST provided me with inspiration, motivation and a cheering-squad – maybe one day “the book” will be completed.

It’s easier for me to post my story in bits and pieces because I get instant gratification from the comments and support I get from the “blogging/social network” community.

Maybe I can just start writing everything online – from beginning to end. And everyone who reads it becomes my editor and then hopefully by the time I turn 45 this July, I can get “No More Tears” published or maybe I should head back to EPCOT and follow what my 8yo told asked me this morning:
"Mom, why is it in Florida dreams do come true?"

Immigration and Family: Will my mom ever get to see my daughter walk down the aisle

Last year when my father passed away in the Philippines, I went home and took some time to visit the U.S. Embassy in Manila to ask what the options are for my mother to return to the U.S. The consul reminded me of the 10-year travel ban. That on or after November 8, 2015 — not earlier – or 10 years after my mom, was deported in 2005 for overstaying her visa, I can email the U.S. Embassy and inquire about my mother’s approved petition. I asked if I need to file another petition, and she informed me I didn’t have to. I asked if I could… and she stopped me and said to ask everything on or after November 8, 2015. This is where I am, and where my thoughts are drifting as I celebrate this month my 16th American birthday. I am counting the months, the weeks and the days. My daughter is getting married in January 2016 and I would love to have my entire family, especially my mother, to be here when that momentous occasion happens.

Still shaky, skidded in snow, but so blessed my guardian angels are looking after me!

"Never again wonder, what to be thankful for..."   - Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life It’s yet another snowy day in New Jersey. Beautiful, yes but dangerous! In line with my goal for this month is to get back on schedule. I got up around 4am to get my 15yo ready for his Model United Nations conference. (Thankful that our neighbor offered to drive him to school by 5:30am ) I got my 9yo ready for school and I'm thankful that my other neighbor offered to drive him to school. I then drove my husband to the train station to Manhattan. I decided to stop by the Community Center and decided to run a fast 5K on the treadmill. I was 1 mile short because I was so sweaty and hot.
